Dozens of people who go to musculoskeletal clinics or internal medicine clinics, complain of a plantar burning sensation. This burning sensation can occur only at night or during the day as well.

It is popularly believed that plantar burning sensation is associated with high cholesterol or blood sugar or a hot temper.
In fact, there is no evidence that excess blood fat can cause plantar burning, and most people may have high blood fats accidentally or at the same time, which is not the main cause of plantar burning.
Regarding blood sugar, it should be said that people with diabetes mellitus may have damaged nerves in the foot after ten to fifteen years from the onset of disease, which causes abnormal sensation of the sole of the foot, and therefore it can not be the first sign blood sugar.
The main causes of plantar fasciitis are usually due to pressure on the nerve roots of the sole of the foot, which includes sciatica (usually due to the lumbar disc) and tarsal tunnel syndrome or polyneuropathy (including diabetes, etc.). The electrodiagnosis test in the early stages helps in the correct diagnosis and early treatment and prevention of secondary injuries.

Less common causes of plantar burning include brain lesions (MS, tumor and etc…), advanced anemia, vascular insufficiency, skin lesions of the sole of the foot (fungal infection and ulcers), Morton neuroma, meralgia paresthetica, erythromelalgia, chronic kidney disease, AIDS, chemotherapy, alcoholism and psychologic issues.
Finding the cause of plantar burning sensation is done by a doctor after the necessary tests and diagnostic studies, so any traditional treatment should be avoided before the final diagnosis.
